Burma

Burma has been experiencing what is now the worlds longest lasting civil war lasting over 70 years. The Burma army has been carrying out ruthless, indiscriminate attacks against the civilian ethnic population in Burma for decades killing thousands. This is carried out through ground assaults, airstrikes, as well as mortar and drone attacks. Homes, hospitals, schools, churches, and monasteries are often the primary targets for the multiple military dictatorships, leaving civilians living in constant fear as they try to live out their lives. They have consistently attacked without regard for gender, age, or innocence.

As Burma Army forces move across the region, civilians are forced to uproot and move their families away from the danger and out harms way. This has caused a massive internally displaced persons (IDP) crisis causing over 1 millions IDP’s inside the country. Targeted ethnic groups have fled, and continue to flee into the jungle setting up temporary IDP camps where they survive and attempt to raise their families. There they continue to live until Burma army attacks cause them to move again, or if pro-democracy forces are are able to liberate their town allowing them to return to their homes. There is a deep spiritual war taking place with decades of pain and resentment layered on top of one another. Yet in the midst of the pain and suffering, God is still moving, still bringing healing and reconciliation, and still making himself known.

In June of 2025, we had the opportunity to join the Free Burma Rangers on a relief mission in Karenni State Burma.
